How to start a business? And keep it running and profitable?

Posted on September 27th, 2009 by admin in start a business | 3 Comments »

I’ve been wanting to start a business for a long time now. And I really don’t know what to do. Everything that I come up with seem to just disappear or I just lose interest in it. I like to hear from people who have started business and how they are keeping it going and profitable.

Here are some small business enterprises to consider:

1. Providing a private tutoring service ranging from music lessons, English writing and reading lessons: to training seniors on how to operate a particular computer;

2. Offering to supervise or monitor services to senior citizens especially those wanting someone to take them on errands, driving on long trips, watch and clean up homes left behind by seniors who have been relocated to assisted living quarters;

3. Becoming a regional apartment manager servicing several properties while traveling to and fro to collect monthly rents and service tenant complaints;

4. Leasing a van equipped with paper shredding machinery and go into high-income areas offering to shred their highly secretive personal papers or even allow them to do so in the privacy of their own home or office;

5. Leasing high-pressure steam cleaning equipment which can be used to remove chewing gum in front of store fronts and apartment houses and charge an appropriate hourly fee;

6. Acquiring a personal fiduciary bond up to $100,000 which will allow you to sell your services as a personal property document specialist which involves photographing and cataloging all kinds of personal property which are subject to insurance coverage; salvaging of family photo albums, etc.

Good luck!

Or like your name and an old house address like Kara12456@yahoo.com or make up a number with 5 digits. Good luck hope that you get your job.

What is the cost of starting a business using your computer?

Posted on September 27th, 2009 by admin in starting business | 6 Comments »

What I mean is with everything involed getting e-books, CD’s, personal coaches, making phone calls, and everything else you need to help start your business without the other people that are involed or the one’s who won’t to make a profit from you starting you own bussiness with the computer. I receive e-mails all the time about people that can help me start a business but, they all won’t something. I don’t know who is for real or not. I do know you got to invest some money and I know you won’t get wealthy over night. So what do I need to look for?
I am not sure to sell a product or try to offer direction in finding a product when starting my internet business.

I suggest you start by reading some books on the topic:

- 101 Internet Businesses You Can Start from Home by Susan Sweeney
- The E-Code: 33 Internet Superstars Reveal 43 Ways to Make Money Online Almost Instantly—Using Only Email by Joe Vitale

To start an internet business, you need to have:

1. The right business model: a product or service that people need and want
2. You know how to build traffic
3. You know how to convert those traffic

Yes, it is not easy. But you can learn.

Business PLan?

any resources on where to look at a simple business plan, or better yet, how to write one?

According to the book “The ABC’s of Writing Winning Business Plans: How to Prepare a Business Plan That Others Will Want to Read — and Invest In” http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0446694150/powerhomebizguid by Garrett Sutton, below are some tips to make a winning business plan that can get funding:

- Money follows management. Investors look first at the people involved in the company. If you are just starting out and don’t have relevant experience, investors expect to see that you have an experienced team of advisors and employees helping you in the business.

- Make sure you “sell” the one reason your business will become profitable.

- State clearly the strategies you will employ to get the word out about your business. Your business plan must show how you will leverage the Internet, public relations, viral marketing, and other strategies to attract customers.

- Present realistic estimates of the time, energy and costs of building a successful business. Do not underestimate or overestimate revenues. While investors know your numbers are simply guesses, they want to see that your numbers are within the “range of reality.” Be careful of your financial statements: this is one area where you can easily lose credibility if presented poorly.

- Benchmark similar companies to show that you’ve done your homework and researched the market.

- Your Executive Summary is your calling card. If it is not a winner, investors may not even read your entire plan. Emphasize your own as well as your team’s track record in the Executive Summary.

- Before sending your business plan to lenders and investors, send it out first to a few in order to get feedback. You’d want to correct your plan if someone tells you that you’re way off mark, rather than have a potential investor tell it to you and lose the chance to get the funding you need.

Currently is it better to start your own business or work for business?

Posted on September 25th, 2009 by admin in start your own business | 4 Comments »

Which is safer? I know with the depression going on is it better to start your own business up and take a chance at it failing or is it better to work for a business taking the risk of getting laid off because of the bad economy right now? Which one is safer through these rough economic and financial times?

We are in a recession, not a depression. Starting your own business takes investment money up front. In the current economic climate, this may be too risky. On the other hand, you could save that money, work for someone else and if you do get laid off you’ll have a safety net. Either way, you have to be frugal and use common sense.
