I live in hangzhou, China. I have developed a novel website. The website is under internal testing. Now I am preparing for the next stage of my startup website. I need to promote it and run it. I want to find a co-founder(or a startup partner), a business mentor or an angel investor. Any of them is ok. The problem is, how can I find such a person(a startup partner, a business mentor or an angel investor)?

Well raising capital can be one of the critical issues in running a business.

The first stage is to create a details business plan, including costs and projected revenue.

Now if you are doing business in China then you will have to find a chinese business partner, this could just be a person in name only, or a real business partner.

Otherwise everything from that point will be the same.

Make a list of potential investors.

1. Venture capital companies
2. Possible client companies, ie, companies that would benefit from your business. Eg, an airline would benefit from a business that promotes Hangzhou tourism.
3. Companion businesses, companies that do something similar but not the same. Something that will mean you business enhances theres.
4. Friends and family.
5. Private investors. Hire a conference room, put adverts in the business press. You do a presentation and so on.

Generally though I think what you need to do is find a business person to work with. You don’t know how to do business, but you know your business. So find someone, maybe network in your local area or people you meet in ex-pat bars, and get them to come on board as the business manager.

I am a teen who wants to enter the marketing field. I am currently in the process of creating a small business (not technically a business because I cannot sign for my name registration) which deals with print advertising (posters, newspaper ads, letterheads, etc.) I was wondering if anyone had any resources such as places to obtain start up, get advice, any official documents that would still need to be filled out by a teen business.

How do I start my own landscaping business? There are a few landscapers in the area that cater primarily to residential customers. In contrast, I want to focus more on commercial and larger projects. You need to look at getting your contacts ready for this season if you have the equipment ready. If not make sure you can go for next year. Mowing season is coming fast. One thing you might want to check with is your local and state Chamber of Commerce, along with any Small Business organizations, and ask for info on how to start a business, and for grants or loans for small business start-ups. We had a customer who started his landscape business with a grant from the federal government. The only bad thing is you might have to jump through some hoops to get them.

I don’t know about your area, but in Indiana you can not even use a bottle of Round-up on someones yard with out a license. So if you are going to spray chemicals, check with a local commercial farm store and get info on what needs to happen so you could spray chemicals.

DO NOT get any equipment from a "Big Box" store. They will not have big enough equipment, and none of their warranties will cover commercial use. Your best friend in all of this is your local Lawn and garden dealer. I’ll give you some companies you can use a dealer locate for some names of dealers in your area.

Am thinking of starting my own business of setting up aquariums and getting them started for people who either don’t have the time or know how…or they are just lazy. What would I need to do this? I’ve done aquariums, both fresh and salt since I was about 10, so my knowledge is fairly high on how to set up tanks, but didn’t know if anyone had an idea of equipment or tools I would need to have.

Well, first off a van to move the tanks, stand and other equipment for the people. Also to carry your equipment. If you are doing set up only, you really wouldn’t need much else other than plenty of insurance! Remember, if a large tank bursts a seam while you are filling it and ruins stuff in the house, the people will sue you, if they don;t their insurance company will, so loads of insurance against such things will be good. I would also have a contract that they sign that says you are not responsible for faulty tanks or other equipment or for improper placement of the tank if you have not been consulted about the placement of the tank.

If you plan on this to be a maintenance business as well, you would need a very long python, trashcans on wheels, power head to pump water, salt mix, thermometers, anything you can thing of that would normally be needed for keeping a tank. Also plan on getting a business license that allows you to sell goods. That way you can sell the people new heaters when one breaks, new filter pads, filter parts, lights, etc, etc.

You’ll need not only a way to haul this stuff but a place to store extra as well.

I am in the baby steps of starting my own business and am not quite ready to do a full fledge website. I agree with the first answer. You should start right at the first step. You don’t want to waste time doing something that you know you’ll have to throw them away eventually (your free website in this case). You should start with a good domain name that can help your customer remember your site, simple yet effective webpage and hosting.
