Where can you find information for Research and Development Seed Money for a startup business?

Posted on December 7th, 2009 by admin in business startup | 1 Comment »

Here is the thing. I have been doing theoretical research in engine designs and have one that seems quite good. The basic idea and concepts have been patented. It can have many applications and modified for many different uses. A small scale model outlining the basic concept works quite well and is ready for further testing as a full scale model. I want to know how to obtain financing to continue with research and development that would cover full scale model costs, testing equipment and salary and overhead costs to build a team to carry out the testing and business issues. I have heard of angel investors but don’t know a whole lot. Its preferable to obtain the seed money without signing basically all your rights for the idea and earning potential away. If anyone can help it would be appreciated.

try the SBA or SCORE.. if not maybe they can help you find someone who can .. http://www.sba.gov

Which advertising medium should I use for my startup business?

Posted on December 5th, 2009 by admin in business startup | 2 Comments »

I am starting a grocery delivery business. My main customers will be the elderly, disabled, affluent, busy, or people with young children. My dilemma is that I don’t have a lot of funds to immediately spend thousands on expensive ads, and I’m not going to take out a loan. What are some affordable yet effective ways that I can advertise my business?

I assume that you will deliver in a certain geographic area only so I would start with flyers delivered to the target area. You might want to do a coupon introductory offer as part of the flyer. You might want to also get on the phone and introduce yourself to the community centers that serve the elderly (maybe you can put up flyers on their bulletin board). Radio advertising is usually relatively inexpensive – just make sure that your ads are targeted to the customer group (i.e. elderly and disabled or affluent and busy or people with young children – don’t target all of them with the same message).

Make sure that your message identifies the problem (their inability to get in/out of the store, or their busy lifestyles, or their children), the solution (your service and the time it will save, the money they will save, etc.) and then a call to action … ask them to order your service on a trial basis (with the first order being discounted 10% – or whatever amount you determine would be an incentive)?

I’ve been saving $25,000 for a while now, and I think its time to look into a profitable business. Anyone have any ideas, or investments here in the bay area that can give me some profit.

Bay area means fishing. You can insert yourself in fish processing line. For example canned fish.

What are the best methods to finance a business startup without incurring a lot of debt?

Posted on November 27th, 2009 by admin in business startup | 2 Comments »

I have plans to start an internet cafe business in the downstairs front unit of my apartment building on a Main street surrounded by other businesses. I need to raise capital but I am working on a shoestring budget. I need to make sure I launch from a good financial foundation so I don’t go in the hole. I can provide more info if you need. Thanks, Mary

Funds for financing a business usually come from one of four places:

- Your own savings/funds (this includes selling assets to raise cash)
- Loans (family, friends, or banks or other lending institutions)
- Investments (you give part of the business in return for an investment of cash)
- The business itself (you start smaller and finance expansion from profits)

Plan your business out completely, including full financial projections. Determine how much you have on hand and the difference is the amount you need to raise. If you don’t want to incur debt (loans) and you don’t have it all on hand, then you are most likely going to be looking for an investor.

Is there government grants available in the north west uk for small business startup?

I see you object to paying the government for your passports but expect them to give you money to start up a business. Kind of one sided, don’t you think?

Startup Business Idea – How To Get Into The Family Leisure Centre Business In The UK?

Posted on November 18th, 2009 by admin in business startup | 1 Comment »

Pls give me a link to a guide that details the business potential of family leisure centres in the UK. Thanks.

If you’re looking at the family leisure and entertainment market in the UK, the best way for a small business to enter is through the ‘hiring’ route.

This means you become a supplier of goods on hire to family leisure centres in or around your local area, appropriately targeted to what the visitors want and the leisure centre needs. An example of this is a guide call ‘How to run your own Bouncy Castle Hire Business’ (site below) that gives you A-Z details of entering the lucrative ‘bouncy castle’ business that’s so popular with kids and grown-ups alike.

It’s a good way to network socially and build yourself a small business in the process. I’m saying this from experience as my own cousin is a successful entrepreneur supplying for-hire games and giant party toys in the West Sussex region.
