just started business and it is difficult, are there any benefits that i would be entitled to?

You could try making some money online. Most ways of making money online are scams. Luckily, there are a few genuine ones, if you know where to look:

Firstly you could try http://www.easymoneytechniquesonline.com , this is a great guide to setting up a website and getting paid advertising on it. It also has the benefit of not having any start up costs.

If you don’t have time for that you could try http://www.earn-or-make-online-money.com , this is a site with links to many 100% genuine paid survey and review sites etc. You won’t make as much money as setting up your own site but you would make it quicker.

Another quick way of making money is http://www.ciao.co.uk/reg.php?AffiliateId=6700603 this is probably one of the best paid review sites out there, and once you sign up you could be making money almost instantly.

Starting an online gaming business in India?
Hi, I am based in Europe and thinking of starting same kind of business in India, within online gaming.
- where can find sources for legal restrictions
- what is the biggest online game – Second Life?
- what is needed, on office, location.
Any tips is useful. Thanks in advance.

Your intended business activity will need various approvals as you as promoters will be an NRI if at all you are a person of Indian Origin.
ADV in TOI & Economic Times in Mumbai, inviting Consultants and existing operators to have dialogue with you. Briefly explain your scheme and ensure that the AD you insert in a ‘Display Ad’ which attracts attention of readers and prospective investors/consultants.
You will surely have response but first you will have to spend on the AD as this will be an indirect source of investment.

How do I apply or find a legitimate business grant in Michigan for start up in michigan?

Posted on November 15th, 2009 by admin in start a business | 2 Comments »

Looking for legitimate resources on applying and finding business grants Federally and State wise. Im in Michigan and starting a business. I am also a minority business startup.
I know of some programs for getting grants for developing a business in urban areas like Detroit, Flit, Grand Rapids, Etc.
Grants are non credit based…so Im looking for those and loans built for people starting businesses that have bad or no credit.
Would love to have imput from Michigan people that have gone through a simular program or anyone with information on finding these grants.

You stand a greater chance of getting a government-guaranteed loan through the Small Business Administration http://www.sba.gov/financing than a government grant. Read the SBA Financing page to learn about criteria needed for borrowing

It is hard to find grants to start a business. Unlike the myths that some perpetuate, federal government and even private foundations hardly give grant money for a for-profit business. And yes, grants mean PAPERWORK – lots and lots of it, that is why a cottage industry of grant writers was born.

Nonetheless, you can go to the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) http://www.cfda.gov and Grants.gov http://www.grants.gov – these are two sites created by the federal government to provide transparency and information on grants. Browse through the listings and see if you can find any grant that would support a for-profit venture.

Even if you buy books on "how to get grants" or list that supposedly has information on grants — all of them are mere rehash of what CFDA has, albeit packaged differently. But still the info is the same – hardly any grants for starting a for profit business.

Even SBA does NOT give out grants. From the SBA website http://www.sba.gov/expanding/grants.html

"The U.S. Small Business Administration does not offer grants to start or expand small businesses, although it does offer a wide variety of loan programs. (See http://www.sba.gov/financing for more information) While SBA does offer some grant programs, these are generally designed to expand and enhance organizations that provide small business management, technical, or financial assistance. These grants generally support non-profit organizations, intermediary lending institutions, and state and local governments."

Here is a listing of federal grants for small businesses. See if there is any available for individuals for starting a business — THERE’S NONE.
http://12.46.245.173/pls/portal30/CATALOG.BROWSE_BENEF_RPT.show

Most of the federal grants are given to specific target groups with specific requirements (e.g. minority business owners involved in transportation related contracts emanating from DOT – Grant#20.905 Disadvantaged Business Enterprises Short Term Lending Program

Grants are also often given to non profit groups or organizations involved in training or other similar activities (grant 59.043 Women’s Business Ownership Assistance that are given to those who will create women’s business center that will train women entrepreneurs

How do you bid drywall jobs? Experienced taper wants to start business but needs to learn how to bid.?

Posted on November 12th, 2009 by admin in start a business | 2 Comments »

My husband has over 20 years experience as a drywaller, but has always worked for someone else. He would like to start his own business, but he doesn’t have any experience on bidding a job. Can anyone tell us how you learn to do that or where he can go to find out? Thanks!!

I would suggest that you take a look at the publications put out by RS Means. They have several books that tell you how to prepare estimates, as well as guides that show costs for various building components, including drywall work. The books are real expensive but worth it.

Also, after 20 years in the business, I assume that your husband has made friends with a few general contractors and project managers. I would suggest that he take these people out for a beer and casually ask what is the normal price range for drywall work in your part of the country.

Well, you don’t have to quite studies in order to earn money. You can continue study and earn money at the same time.
Only online business will be suitable if you have only few thousands.
Alternatively you may invest your money and receive high income like 20-30% a year.
I have invested in my friend’s business and now I am getting guaranteed 40% annual interest. He still needs investors. You may email me for more information.

Find a location, get a loan, and get a business license. You should also have your suppliers worked out, etc. BEFORE getting the loan. It makes it easier to get start up money.

if I start a new business this week, what will be my basis and accounting periods? will it matter?

Posted on October 26th, 2009 by admin in start a business | 2 Comments »

I am sole trader and want to start business this week (week of 9th of March), and preferably starting tomorrow. What will be my basis period and accounting period? I don’t understand what those really are and why I should be concerned about them. Can I just start trading whenever I want and let the accountant worry about the accounting periods? Thanks in advance

Your first year of trading (to 10/03/10) will include the 2008/09 basis period (11/03/09-05/04/09).
The 2009/10 assessment will be on the first full year to 10/03/10.
2010/11 will be y/e 10/03/11.
Overlap relief will cover the double tax on the first year.

It doesn’t make ANY difference, but it’s more convenient to start on 06/04/09 as it saves overlap.

Can you start your own LLC business without a lawyer?

Live in Texas.
Any advice for legal paper work to start business?

We did. Actually I did consult with our lawyer first and he suggested purchasing a book with all the answers and forms that you need. The best source for all legal books is through www.nolo.com. It made the whole process super easy and is handy to have the book on hand whenever there is a question. An added benefit is that the book is a tax write off
