I am doing research for an entrepreneurship class. I need to identify ideas and trends to start a successful business now and for the next few years. Any ideas or resources, statistics?

There are a couple of ways to go about this. You can consider companies that would be on the forefront of developing new technologies (creation opportunities) such as renewable energy, robotics, etc. or bringing new and innovative products to market.

OR, you can look for existing market gaps (discovery opportunities) and try to fill them by combining two or more ideas or products already existing in the market. This tends to be more quickly successful as it fills a need (as opposed to trying to create a need.)

I have 5 thousands and want to start business? What are the businesses I can start with 5 thousands. My credit score is not so good which I am trying to improve.

Due to the lack of decent answers so far I guess I’ll have to give it a go!

The fact that you’ve managed to build up 5000 in savings given your bad credit score (I assume the 5000 of which you boast is savings money?) is very impressive and is a very good sign.

But I certainly can’t give you a decent business idea! Do you know what? If I had an idea for a business that would make me loads of money off £5000 I certainly wouldn’t share it with you! YOU need to have a good idea to start a business, look for a niche in your local community or a problem with an existing product.

I am an NRI indian and left my Job last year in yr08 beginning due to my back pain, I tried to return back but due to my pain I could not continuous, I had money almost INR 500k and want to start business or want to invest somewhere I can get good returns pls help me out.

What type of business does your friend want to start? There’s so many different types out there it’s incredible. How about a home based business? They’re cheaper to start then a traditional business. Not much overhead (depending on the one you chose) and easier to keep up.
There are a lot of different really good home based business opportunities out there that are international. Your friend needs to look through them and find the one that is right for him. I don’t know what his or her interests are, so I’m not sure which one to point you out to.
My husband and I started our home based business over 6 years ago. The income opportunity is incredible. It well supports our family. We have four children ages 10, 6, 3 and 1.
We got involved in the telecommunications industry. We get paid a percentage of everyone’s telecommunications bills. Every time someone pays one of the cellular phone bills (from all the major cellular phone carriers), or their land lines, Internet, Satellite T.V., digital, video phone service and VOIP bills, we get a percentage month after month, year after year. How many people do you know or know of that uses any of these services? Think about how much you could make each month from all these people’s services and be able to save them money. Here are some steps to help you get started on an import and export business:

1. Select your product – the more you know about your products, the better you can run your import/export operations. Start with what you know, but be open to opportunities you see as you go along.

2. Research, research and research. If you are based in the US and wants to start an import/export business here, then you need to learn all customs laws, trading restrictions and quotas, international trade data, and more. Find out where you can find good information about the products you plan to trade.

3. Identify potential contacts. From your list of products, identify the countries that supply those products. Then find the producers of your target products in those countries.

It seems to me that you want to import to US from India. You need to contact your local US Customs office and the US Commerce office. They can help.
