any websites i can go to?

What sort of business, and where? Different areas will have different requirements. Starting a restaurant will have different requirements than opening a factory.

If you’re in the US, find a chapter of Service Corps of Retired Executives near you. This is a volunteer agency, and you will be matched with a mentor who has experience in what you want to do. This is what I did when I started my first business.

what are the pros and cons of starting your own business?

Posted on February 21st, 2010 by admin in starting your own business | 3 Comments »

to all you business owners out there!

Let’s start with the Cons

You pay 100 % of your own Social Security (15.9%)
you have to keep your books for 5 years
You have to have liability insurance to protect you from
law suits
You have to file Schedule C and Schedule SE, and may
have to pay your taxes on a quarterly basis (quarterly tax
payment may also be necessary while working for others)
You have to deal with customers with large ranges of
expectancy and wishes and mood swings
You pay to advertise
You pay more for a telephone
You have overhead (rent, utilities and such for your business
unless you are working out of your home)
Vacations are harder to get
Health Insurance is harder to get
Loans are harder to get (hard to show proof of income)
Swings in business (feast or famine)
That is just a few of the Cons;

Pros.

You can set your own hours,
The money you earn is yours to keep
Personal satisfaction (Pride)
Set your own profit levels
Additional tax deductions
Job security

There are many more, reasons to be self-employed
even though I have listed more cons than pros, if you
have a business in mind, go for it. In the beginning
you will work more hours because you want to grow
your business but be realistic and don’t try to be the
biggest right off the bat. Your best advertisement is from
customer referrals, treat you customers with respect and
honesty and they will tell their friends, soon you will
have a good business and earn a good income.

You should have enough start-up capital to last you
3 months (personal and business expenses)

Good Luck

What is the hardest thing about starting your own business?

I think you need a feasibility study before going into business. This way the chances of doing it right is big. Knowledge of the business you want to set up depends on you, so start searching for some info of the type of business you want and good luck.

What is the biggest challenge for starting your own business?

Posted on February 17th, 2010 by admin in starting your own business | 3 Comments »

The biggest challenge is proper use of your time. You can be very successful spending your time doing the right things, but most of us are not successful because we don’t know which things to focus on and in what order.

The second biggest challenge is keeping the tax men out of your pockets long enough to get up and running.

is it hard to start your own business i am thinking about getting a degree in business besides starting your?

Posted on February 15th, 2010 by admin in starting your own business | 1 Comment »

own business what jobs can u get with a degree in business

Yeah it’s hard to start your own business. You need money, knowledge, and a product. I had to do a business plan in college this last semester (something you have to do in order to get a loan from a bank, they want to make sure that your finances are correct and realistic). You need to make sure that there is a market for your product or service that you’re trying to sell. You might look up business plans on the internet to give you a better idea of what it’s going to take to start your own business. A business degree is pretty general. I would suggest being a little more specific as to a field: accounting, finance, HES, fire safety, overseas business, etc. You can probably get a normal business office job if you acquire a MBA (Masters in Business Administration).

Is starting your own landscaping business worth the time and effort?

Posted on February 12th, 2010 by admin in starting your own business | 1 Comment »

i am thinking of starting my own landscaping business soon and I wanted to know if that business is a good idea? I am tired of working for someone else and I want to work for myself so is this a good business to get into?

Do you mean building rock gardens, fences, etc, or lawn mowing. For lawn mowing, you should start small and get bigger. I started out with one lawn, now have 70. I wouldn’t like the landscaping part since there are a lot of picky people out there who won’t be satisfied with anything. I imagine you would need lots of equipment.

Is starting your own business a good idea?

Posted on February 10th, 2010 by admin in starting your own business | 5 Comments »

I’m just wondering about all the different sorts of jobs there were. My parents have dreamed of opening up their business, but never got to do it. How and is it smart to open up your own business???
I need LOTS of info on this.

Thank you!

Yeah this is indeed a good idea.

Why?

- First, you won’t feel like a slave.
- Second, you can earn more profit if you work more. This will help you to spend your life with peace and enjoy.
- Third, need not to worry about entering into the office in time. You just complete your tasks in your convenient time.

There are other such benefits….

But the most important thing is running business successfully, is bit difficult but not impossible. So you need to be more careful.

Do research before your start your business. Now plan how to proceed to the goal. Invest required money. And proceed ahead to the goal.

Best of luck
