Motorcycle Involved in Fatal Crash was Part of a Vehicle Defect Recall

The motorcycle accident, which recently claimed the life of a police officer, had been recalled for a potentially serious safety issue, but had not yet been repaired, according to an NBC news report. The police sergeant died after his Harley Davidson crashed into a school bus. Apparently, the Harley was part of a nationwide recall for a problem with a mount near the front fuel tank that could spark a fire in the event of a vehicle accident. The officer’s motorcycle had been scheduled for repairs at the time of the crash. Authorities are looking into what caused the crash, including whether the problems that led to the product defect recall had anything to do with it.
